Feiss
Like some of the greatest
companies in the world,
Murray Feiss began with a very simple idea. Rose Feiss, an
immigrant
with creative talent and determination, began sewing lamp shades to
help pass the time while her son Murray was fighting with the Navy
during WWII. This simple past time soon turned into a
veritable
industry with wives and mothers sewing lampshades all throughout the
Bronx.
When the war was over, Murray
joined his mother and
expanded the business into portable fixtures. The company
added
electrical lamping and the shade to imported bases and business quickly
grew. For three generations, the Murray Feiss name has
continued to
grow as the business expanded its product line. Today, Murray
Feiss is
a leader in the lighting industry thanks to its unparalleled
craftsmanship, innovative and cutting edge designs, and a strong
commitment to honest value.
Murray Feiss may be very proud
of
their humble beginnings but the business continues to look toward the
future. In 2002, the company opened a 5.5 million cubic foot
distribution center and now occupies several blocks of Rose Feiss
boulevard in the Bronx. Murray Feiss has continually expanded
its
products and now includes grand
chandeliers,
vanity bath lights, casual fixtures, lamps (including decorative
table lamps, floor
lamps,
and accent lamps), torchieres, and a wide assortment of decorative
accessories. Murray Feiss has its own in-house design team
composed of
industrial, graphic, and interior designers who work hand-in-hand with
engineers, draftsmen, color forecasters and quality control experts to
help create some of the most innovative and award winning designs on
the market today. Murray Feiss is also the exclusive
manufacturer of
Bob Mackie Homes, a name synonymous with quality.
