Ceiling
Lights—Bigger May Not Be Better!
Ceiling
lights are certainly the standard fixtures found in most homes and
apartments. You really want to have more than one source of
illumination in any room but sometimes this is not always a viable
option. When buying ceiling lights, you want to be sure that
you have enough illumination for the completion of most tasks but not
so much to go blind!
Multiple-bulb
ceiling lights are commonly used to provide both ambient and task
lighting. However, the amount of illumination that a room
needs is based upon a basic formula: Room length X Room width
X 1.5. For a living room that is 14 ft by 12 feet, that means
you would need a ceiling fixture (or total illumination for the room)
that produced roughly 250 watts. A ceiling light with 4-60
Watt bulbs should provide ample illumination for the room without
overpowering the space.
Bigger
is definitely not always better when it comes to ceiling lights so be
sure to measure the space carefully and buy a fixture that provides
ample illumination. Barnes & Wagner prides itself on
keeping lighting experts on staff to help you choose from our wide
selection of quality ceiling lights, table lamps, chandeliers
and other fixtures. You already know that you want some new
ceiling fixtures—allow our professional staff to help you buy
lighting that will stun guests without breaking the budget!
