Buffet Lamps—Decorating Options Abound!

You most likely have never even heard of a buffet lamp—and that’s ok—most haven’t.  These long, slender, and often ornate light fixtures are not common in today’s fast-paced world because most of us don’t really have time to sit down and entertain guests properly.  Typically, you would find one of these stylish fixtures complementing the chandelier in the dining room table by adorning a buffet table sideboard.  However, if you don’t have a buffet table or even a formal dining room, there are a number of decorating possibilities to consider using these lovely and stylish fixtures.

One of the primary characteristics of these slender fixtures is a small base.  This small footprint makes the buffet lamp ideally suited for small spaces where a more traditional table or desk lamp might be too large.  Small side or accent tables are a great place to beautify and illuminate using these elegant fixtures.

When decorating a room it takes several different types of lighting to create a balanced and layered lighting plan.  Ideally, ambient, task, and accent light fixtures combine to fully illuminate the space.  Buffet lamps are technically task lighting fixtures but you can also use them in more of an accent capacity when the ceiling or ambient fixtures are turned off.  Therefore, a nightstand would be a great place to use a buffet lamp as it can provide ample reading light while also becoming a stunning decorative fixture when the other lights are turned off.

The entryway or foyer of your home is another great space to grace with the stylistic charm of a buffet lamp. The narrow, unobtrusive design of the buffet lamp makes it ideal for narrow spaces such as the entry hall way. Simply place buffet lamps on small stands or a nicely decorated sideboard table to make your entryway truly memorable.

The buffet lamp can be the perfect decorative accent to collectible displays and shelving in the living room. Simply place a buffet lamp or two in spaces where accent lighting is needed to create a compelling decorative display in the room.

Truly, the decorating options do abound when it comes to the ubiquitous buffet lamp.  Your imagination is really the only limit so don’t be afraid to live a little and add some real character and charm to any room in your home using buffet lamps.  While people may not know them by name, they will surely be able to recognize the stylistic grace and charm of these sensational light fixtures!
