Bathroom
Lighting—Make Sure It’s Fit For Royalty!
If
the toilet is the throne,
then the bathroom is the royal chamber and lighting fixtures in this
room should properly reflect this fact. And, bathroom
lighting must not only accentuate and benefit the
décor—it needs to be adequate for hygiene and
grooming needs (not to mention some “light reading”
for some of us!). Therefore, you will need matching light
fixtures that combine to provide all three main types of interior
illumination: Ambient, Task, and Accent Lighting.
Flush
mount ceiling
lights are often best for providing the overall or ambient
lighting in the room. Be sure that the materials and finish
match the bathroom hardware for a more compelling decorative effect.
Wall
sconces (again, in matching finish and materials) adorning
either side of a central mirror should help provide task lighting for
hygiene needs. Finally, some accent lamps should complete the
bathroom lighting so long as they complement the other fixtures and
décor. Remember, bathroom lighting can completely
change the look and feel of the room so if you want to feel like
royalty—be sure you buy quality made fixtures.
